Swimming outside at 8˚C

Swimming outside at 8˚C

Today was an open invitation by Vidösternsimmet for everyone who wanted to get wet and swim in the Prostsjön lake in Värnamo.

The weather was pretty cold (under 10 degrees) and the water even colder, but this didn’t stop swimming enthusiast to do a lap on the lake.

Warm hot tub waited for them on their return and also a heated up grill to put back the lost calories from the swim.

Skying in Värnamo

Skying in Värnamo

It was finally time that people from Värnamo enjoy some snow ⛄️ ❄️.

The skyslope called Alandsrydsbacken (I even didn’t know we have one in Värnamo kommun, thinking Isaberg is the closest one) was open yesterday for everyone and so we went to have some fun with the kids.

Too bad you are not allowed to use the sledge there, only skying and snowboarding is available but still we had some fun in the snow!

Signs of spring in Varnamo

Signs of spring in Varnamo

It was a full day of sun today, after many, too many days of clouds and continuous rain. The waters are high everywhere and rivers flooded their surroundings. I took my camera and did a quick drive around Värnamo Kommun, no further than 30km away from the city loking for signs of spring:

The migratory birds comming back

Birds are therapeutic for some

Birds are therapeutic for some

I’ve started to photograph birds at the beginning of 2018, more as a hobby. Soon it became a method of meditation I might say, a way to clear my mind of daily issues and problems. An escape!

Watching them, getting to know how species behave, what they like to eat, what trees or lakes they prefer it’s something no one can tell you about, you have to live it and get sucked into it.

I’m totally hooked!

The best part is you’re surrounded by them here in Värnamo. You can take a walk in Appladalen, or drive your car to Store Mosse or to any of the hundreds of lakes and it’s impossible not to see at least one bird, no matter the weather 🙂

If you love birds as I do, there is a big amount of info on Värnamos Fågelklubb webpage. Pay them a visit!
